Our Mission & Approach
The mission of our massage school is to provide the very best in holistic health education in the art and science of therapeutic massage, in an environment supportive of personal wellness, consciousness, and transformation. Learning and practicing massage is more than a technical education -- it is a life choice to dedicate oneself to a path of service. For most this means employment in one of the growing wellness and medical fields now open to massage therapists. Our graduates work in spas, resorts, salons, hospitals, chiropractic offices, health clubs, sports facilities, do workplace massage, and have private and group practices. In these venues, our graduates are able to earn a living in a rewarding career in which they are able to help relieve pain, alleviate stress, and help their clients to feel better.
Certification
After completing our state-approved 600-hour massage therapy program, graduates are eligible to take the National Certification Exam in Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork. Blue Ridge School helps students prepare for the exam by including “The Complete Review Guide for the National Certification Exam” as one of our texts.
Blue Ridge School of Massage and Yoga is enrolled as a member school in the Massageprep.com review service. The school's students receive their on-line review for the national certification exam as part of their tuition. Graduates who need to retake the online review can receive a discounted enrollement fee when they re-register through BRSMY. Massage prep offers a money back guarantee if successful participants fail the certification exam.
After passing the exam, graduates may apply to the Nursing Board of Virginia for the Certified Massage Therapist credential. This certification permits graduates to legally practice massage therapy in Virginia. Every two years, certified massage therapists must complete 25 hours of continuing education requirements to maintain their certification.
Blue Ridge School of Massage & Yoga provides coursework for continuing education credits, see our Continuing Education tab and check out some of the great courses we are offering this year!
